Why Groundspeed

After gel-induced gastrointestinal issues quickly ended a long training session, Carlos decided to make and use his own running fuel for the 2023 BMO Vancouver Half Marathon. Fuelling his race with a homemade mix of maltodextrin and mango puree was the beginning of a two-year journey into research, testing and prototyping countless energy gel recipes. Having dealt with GI issues since childhood including a rare diagnosis (Esophageal Achalasia) in 2013, Carlos developed an energy gel recipe specially with those that have a sensitive GI tract in mind.
